Anxiety is a normal human emotion that we all experience from time to time so we do not want to rid it completely. If your anxiety leads to panic and anxiety symptoms that escalate into anxiety attacks and panic attacks, it may be an anxiety disorder such as: generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, and panic disorder. There is excellent treatment for anxiety attacks, as well as panic attack symptoms, including hypnosis, hypnotherapy, life coaching, counseling, and medication. We do have a medical consultant at our facility but we do not prescibe medications at our office. Hypnosis -- or hypnotherapy -- uses guided imagery, deep focused relaxation, intense concentration and focused attention to achieve a heightened state of awareness that is sometimes called a trance state. In this state of deep focused concentration a person's attention is so intensely focused that anything going on around the person is temporarily blocked out or ignored. We have trained many couples in the power of hypnosis for natural, easy and joyful birth experiences here in Corpus Christi, Texas. A hypnotic trance is a naturally occurring state of mind, much like when watching a movie or reading a book. In this state of concentration a person may focus his or her attention -- with the help of a trained therapist -- on specific thoughts or tasks to rid negative beliefs about oneself, change unwanted behavior patterns, or achieve pain relief and achieve benefits to their current health status. Anxiety Symptoms
Each of us has our own unique chemical make up, so the type, number, intensity, and frequency of anxiety symptoms will vary from person to person. Generalized anxiety disorder (or GAD) is characterized by extreme anxiety and worry about everyday life events with no clear reasons for worry. People with symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder tend to always expect disaster or bad things to happen and can't stop worrying about health, money, family, work, or school. In people with GAD, the worry often is not realistic or out of proportion for the situation. Daily life is stressful and lacks joy and peace because their lives become a constant state of worry, fear, and dread. Eventually, the anxiety dominates and takes over the person's thinking to such a distressing degrees it interferes with daily functioning, including work, school, social activities, and relationships. Symptoms of GAD can include: Daily intense worry and tension, Lack of perspective current problems or stress, Restlessness or a feeling of being "edgy" or irritable, Muscle tension, Headaches, Sweating, Trouble concentrating, Nausea, Frequent trips to the restroom, Fatigue or tiredness, Insomnia, or trouble sleeping at night, Trebling, Starling easily, and feeling hyper-vigilant. In addition, people with GAD often have other anxiety disorders (such as panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and phobias), suffer from depression, and/or abuse drugs or alcohol.
